| No CommentGroove Armada is one of those bands that even if you don’t recognise the name you will no doubt have heard their tracks. If you own any of those chill out type compilations then you’re even more than likely to have found yourself nodding along to their chilled out beats and soaring synths, the ultimate classic and probably the most well known being At The River. But they’re not just known for the downbeat stuff, GA have also had a huge number of booty-shaking hits including I See You Baby (which you will definitely have heard on the Renault Megane advert if not the original), If Everybody Looked The Same and Superstylin.
The band is made up of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay and was named after a 70s disco which was the inspiration for their own club and was the first venture the pair entered into together before the music side of things took off. If you’ve ever spent a weekend at the London festival Lovebox you might also be interested to know that this is run by the same guys. They have also been keen to step into the inventive side of music distribution and in 2008 in a deal with Bacardi to distribute their new 4 track EP using an innovative filesharing platform called B-Live Share.
Apparently there is a new album arriving later this year that will be called Black Light and according to Tom Findlay “it is going to be the darker side of Groove Armada, which is finally coming out after 12 years.” Probably as a result of the new album, this well established band who have weathered over twelve years of musical and commercial storm are taking up residence at the Coronet on 15th October with support from Joe & Will Ask / French Soler (www.coronettheatre.co.uk).
