XFM Winter Wonderland Brixton London

| No CommentXFM’s Winter Wonderland extravaganza is one of those events that it’s going to be hard to miss. Plastered all over the papers and the radio for months, the enormous concert has become something of an annual event for London ever since its humble beginnings back at the much missed Astoria on Tottenham Court Road back in 2003. Since then the event has gone UK-wide with parties springing up in Glasgow and Manchester with some huge names gracing the bill. Previous years have seen the likes of Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Kate Nash, Kasabian, The Ting Tongs and Ida Maria taking to the stage under the XFM banner.
This year there are events taking place at Brixton Academy and Manchester Academy with another impressive line up that includes Razorlight, The Temper Trap, The Big Pink, Bombay Bicycle Club, Local Natives, Goldhawk and Cassidy. The London event takes place on Wednesday 15th December and tickets are £25 in advance.
Whilst there are certainly plenty of events of this type taking place in London over the festive season, there’s not that many that represent such good value for money. It’s not often you’d get to see all those bands for a mere £25 English pounds so it does seem rather a good opportunity. Plus there’s another angle to the event which is bound to increase your Christmas cheer as well as giving your halo a good polish. This is the fact that XFM give a good chunk of their ticket sales each year to a different charity. This year the organisation is pledging to give at least £20,000 and the chosen charity is Anno’s Africa. Anno’s Africa is a UK based charity that offers education to orphans and vulnerable children in some of Africa’s most deprived areas. So there it is, if you’re looking to take part in the ‘indie Christmas party’ whilst doing a food deed, the Winter Wonderland is for you!
